Christmas is a season of giving, that’s what makes it so special! As we do every year, the week before the big day we transform our service bays on Pembina Highway into Santa’s workshop, creating turkey baskets for all 140 of our Super Team members. Over the years we have become passionate about finding unique products from local businesses to fill up our gift baskets. Founded in 1937, Walter Shelmerdine supplied local farmers with fruit trees, landscaping services and plant catalogues. Today, Shelmerdine Garden Center Ltd. is a lifestyle enjoyment centre for plants, home decor, garden products and fashion items. They also have a successful greenhouse growing operation for seasonal plants. In winter the store transforms into a must-see Christmas destination. Every year Shelmerdine sources a special ornament, that they call the Giving Tree Ornament. All proceeds from the ornament sales are donated to non-profit charities in Manitoba. This year the recipients include; Canada-Ukraine Foundation, KidThink, Never Alone Foundation, Grace Hospital Foundation, Winnipeg, Pet Rescue Shelter, Turning Leaf.
