Each Christmas, Super Lube stashes the tools, tires, and car parts to turn one of their service bays into Santa's workshop. The mission? To create a Christmas Basket filled with unique locally sourced products and mouth-watering snacks for each member of their Super Team.
Oh and don't forget the 20lb turkey!
What's In The Baskets?
The team assembled 146 baskets in total, sourcing each item from local creators, artists, bakeries, and businesses. Here are the products they decided to feature this Christmas season.
High Tea Bakery was founded in 2003 by the mother-daughter team Carol and Belinda Bigold. Taking inspiration from their family roots in Australia and the rich heritage of the English tearoom, this award-winning business has become an institution in Winnipeg. Serving time-honored classics with a contemporary twist, their creations are baked fresh daily with only the best ingredients. High Tea Bakery has been featured on The Food Network at the Juno’s and has even served the Queen of England their famous Imperial Cookies.
Wife and husband duo Erica and Wayne believe that scents create ambience and atmosphere, adding dimension and familiar feelings of comfort, relaxation, and nostalgia in any space. MAKE Candle was inspired by their search for a cleaner burning candle and a creative outlet to share their love for candles with the world. They offer a variety of custom candles for their clientele. They graciously created this special memorial candle in honor of Heather, who Super Lube lost this past August.
Alex Plante is a Winnipeg-based Artist. She has been painting, illustrating digitally, and perfecting her photoshop skills for over 15 years. In June 2018, she quit her job to pursue a career as an artist. Alex has created a wide range of Manitoba landscapes, characters, murals, digital paintings, and custom designs. Super Lube’s fall/winter menu features her artwork, “Winterpeg: The Forks.” We have also used her original artwork for the Christmas cards our company sends out each year.
Founded in 1937, Walter Shelmerdine supplied local farmers with fruit trees, landscaping services & plant catalogs. Today, Shelmerdine Garden Center Ltd. is a lifestyle enjoyment centre for plants, home decor, garden products, and fashion items. They also have a successful greenhouse growing operation for seasonal plants. In winter, the store transforms into a must-see Christmas destination. Every year, Shelmerdine sources a special ornament that they call the Giving Tree Ornament. All proceeds from sales are donated to hand-picked non-profit charities in Manitoba.
Since 2008, Forks Trading Company has been carefully curated to feature one-of-a-kind products that showcase the amazing Maker community here in Manitoba. They believe in small business and the power of shopping small. Over the years, they have fostered wonderful relationships with many unique Makers, marketing their products to local visitors and buyers from across the globe. They also have exclusive products that have been thoughtfully designed in-house and feature some of your favorite Manitoba icons and “isms” like their Winnipeg mugs.
Family Foods emphasizes a commitment to community and personalized customer service. Their motto “From Our Family to Yours,” demonstrates a true understanding of family values. Each of the 70 Family Foods locations across Western Canada is independently owned and operated, providing the highest quality products without sacrificing the superior personal services that come through local ownership. This year they have provided the turkey, hot chocolate, cranberry sauce, oranges, and delicious stuffing in our baskets.
Merry Christmas from our Super Lube Family to yours!
